Job Summary

Bobrick is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer based in our Jackson, TN facility. The role focuses on driving manufacturing excellence by developing, optimizing, and supporting tools, equipment, and processes that improve quality, boost productivity, and reduce cost. You will represent Manufacturing Engineering in cross‑functional meetings and project teams, bringing strong technical judgment and a continuous‑improvement mindset to every initiative.

You will stay current on modern manufacturing methods and technologies, identify opportunities to introduce new programs and innovative concepts, design, build, and document fixtures and tooling, troubleshoot equipment issues, and lead projects from research to implementation. Projects may include capital equipment upgrades, production‑line continuous improvement, and company‑wide Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Represent the Department Manager in their absence and other divisions during vendor activities.
  • Provide technical manufacturing engineering support to all Bobrick production facilities; troubleshoot and resolve production‑related engineering issues.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and execute complex projects, including team leadership, proposal development, payback analysis, vendor coordination, and status reporting.
  • Serve as Manufacturing’s Technical Representative on multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools and systems for safety, quality, cost, scrap, labor, utilization, maintenance, and related KPIs.
  • Prepare special reports and deliver presentations to leadership and cross‑functional peer groups.
  • Conduct time‑and‑motion studies; establish standard production rates, estimate costs, and identify efficiency improvements.
  • Create and maintain charts, graphs, workflow diagrams, routings, and factory layouts.
  • Analyze material handling methods and machine/equipment utilization to improve flow and performance.
  • Design manufacturing processes and workspace/equipment layouts to maximize safety, quality, and efficiency, aligned with Bobrick Flow Manufacturing principles.
  • Evaluate, document, and continuously improve manufacturing methods and products using strong analytical and technical problem‑solving skills.
  • Maintain production documentation (VMPs, routers, cell rules, and other controlled documents) to ensure alignment with current processes and product revisions.
  • Partner with Management, Design Engineering, QA, and other stakeholders on production capabilities, schedules, new products, ECOs, and process changes; participate in committees as needed.
  • Consult with Design Engineering to support design‑for‑manufacturing and improve producibility.
  • Analyze capacity vs. demand; recommend workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow improvements.
  • Perform producibility cost studies and support make/buy decisions.
  • Evaluate and recommend capital equipment and tooling; develop business cases and justification packages.
  • Support manufacturing automation initiatives using custom equipment and/or robotics; create machine specifications and RFQs.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and vendors to source and procure equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Evaluate equipment against specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Track project progress against schedule; expand and initiate corrective actions to meet objectives.
  • Research emerging manufacturing technologies and methods; provide recommendations and keep leadership informed.
