Manufacturing Engineer, Operations Manager
Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products Group is seeking qualified professionals for Shift Performance Coaches (Supervisors) to support the Manufacturing teams at our new Dixie® Products Operations Plant located in Jackson, TN. The role involves leadership and development in Printing, Packaging and Plate Forming Press Technology areas within a 24/7 operation, requiring standing/walking for 8‑12 hours per day.
Shifts:
5:30 AM–6:00 PM or 5:30 PM–6:00 AM.
- Accountable for safety, quality, and efficiency through leadership, building team capabilities, and leading the problem‑solving and decision‑making process, building employee ownership and accountability.
- Develop technicians to contribute at a high level, collaborate with others, and actively improve the organization.
- Collaborate with other leaders to enhance total operations within the plant to ensure competitive advantage.
- Support all technicians to build individual training plans, identify capability gaps, and take action to improve performance.
- Use critical and economic thinking skills and actively participate in the challenge process to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement with speed and innovation to drive operations excellence.
- Interface with Manufacturing Engineers, Performance Capability Leader, Skills Developer, and other team members to identify and address performance gaps.
- Assist in attracting, hiring, developing, engaging, and retaining people.
- Leverage strong oral and written communication skills to communicate with the team.
- Travel to other Georgia‑Pacific sites for training and knowledge‑sharing collaboration.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience with responsibility for direct reports within a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
- At least two (2) years of experience coaching, counseling, and developing employees.
- Experience using a computer for record‑keeping, documentation, and reporting, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using SAP.
- Experience using timekeeping technology.
- Experience in the pulp and paper industry.
- Experience with the start‑up and growth of an organization, community group, sporting team, educational group, and/or business venture.
