Summary of Position
The Jackson Community Center is seeking part-time Building Supervisors. (maximum of 20 hours per week). Hours and schedules may vary.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Responsible for the general operation the Jackson Area Community Center during non-office hours. Duties may include, but are not limited to, unlocking and locking rooms, answering phones, room setups and take down, directing and providing outstanding customer service to patrons and members, accepting registrations and maintaining a safe and controlled environment.
Independently performs work of a recurring and regular nature in accordance with established and well-known policies, procedures, and practices. Progress of work is checked and instruction is provided on accomplishing work involving usual problems or the use of unfamiliar equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
SPECIFIC POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains presence at the main reception desk and uses the intercom and phone system to communicate.
- Directs patrons and members to the proper areas. Answers any questions while maintaining outstanding customer service.
- Assists instructors and staff with class packets and any special requirements.
- Accepts registrations and memberships for Parks & Recreation Programs.
- Answers phone calls and directs to proper channels.
- Turns out lights and locks doors and windows upon completion of programs.
- Is responsible for the safety and well being of patrons in the case of an emergency.
- MUST follow the "Emergency Plan" in event of an emergency, evacuation, incident/accident.
- Performs daily maintenance, as needed & requested. Daily duty sheets will be provided.
- Responsible for the specific setup and take down of various rentals, many times, multiple rental at a time. This includes moving tables, chairs etc...
- Makes sure rooms are set back to their original position and garbage is properly taken out after each rental.
- At all times - is responsible and maintains a safe and controlled environment for the safety and well being of all patrons and members.
- Make sure the entire building is locked, secured and alarmed before leaving.
Education and/or Experience Required
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
The position requires at least one year working with people in a customer service type setting and a solid understanding of computers. The position does not require a license or certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn basic computer skills.
- Must have a friendly, outgoing, helpful personality.
- The ability to mop, clean and lift heavy items when necessary.
- Understands the functions and promotes the Parks & Recreation Department.
