Early Education Teacher
Full Time (40 hrs/week) | School Year, 8/20/25-6/15/26
Reports To:
Early Education Director, TCSD Grizzlies Assistant Director, and Student Services Director
Provide a safe and developmental early education experience for children between the ages of birth to 3 years old. Implement a developmentally appropriate play-based curriculum to support the holistic growth of each student in the program.
Responsibilities- Plan and implement a full day-to-day developmentally appropriate play-based curriculum, including weekly themes and lesson plans. Include theme-related materials and rotate toys and equipment on a regular basis.
- Provide a safe, responsive, stimulating environment by actively engaging oneself in daily activities and routines both indoors and outside.
- Plan field trips and outdoor activities that relate to the weekly themes and lesson plans.
- Form and maintain a professional relationship with parents, students, and staff.
- Assess all areas of development of children using a creative curriculum.
- Administer a positive discipline and comfort plan appropriately.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio for each child.
- Conduct two parent-teacher conferences per year.
- Supervise and direct part-time aide(s) and volunteers.
- Be able to bend, stoop, lift and squat.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
- Document accident reporting.
- Maintain open communication with families.
- Uphold state-required DFS Health and Safety Regulations.
- Provide substitute support if needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Completion of Department of Family Services Central Registry Screen.
- Tuberculosis testing required.
- Complete at least 32 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
- CPR certified or able to become CPR certified directly after hire.
- Submit to district and state required fingerprinting and background check(s).
- Vision: read small print; view computer screen for prolonged periods.
- Hearing: answer telephones; tolerate noisy conditions.
- Speech: be understood in face-to-face communications; speak with a level of proficiency and volume.
- Upper Body Mobility: reach, lift, and manipulate objects.
- Lower Body Mobility: bend at waist; stoop; sit for prolonged periods.
- Strength: lift, push, pull, carry objects 15-25 pounds as required.
- Environmental Requirements: work cooperatively, independently, indoors, occasionally outdoors.
- Mental Requirements: read, write, interpret, apply information; math skills at high school proficiency.
Work typically performed indoors and occasionally outdoors. The environment is generally low to moderate noise. Can be hazardous free. May be exposed to weather conditions.
