NYC-based interior design firm is seeking an independent accountant or small accounting office to assist our in-house comptroller with New York State tax filing (monthly Sales Tax, PTET, CROT), monthly payroll reconciliation, annual General Journal Entries, and ongoing communication with our CPA's office. Monthly retainer and flexible hours.
Responsibilities- Filing monthly and quarterly New York State Sales Tax, Corporate Rent Occupancy Tax, PTET Tax with New York State
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Maintain the general ledger using Quick Books DESKTOP and Excel; ensure all journal entries are accurate and timely.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Demonstrated proficiency with Quick Books Desktop, especially Quick Books integration with File Maker and Quick Books with Excel
- Experience with purchasing and purchasing software; design firm experience a plus
- Experience with NYS tax filing website
- In-depth knowledge of accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Excellent communication skills for preparing financial reports and collaborating with the primary business and CPA’s office
- Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP

Pay: $2,000.00 per month
