** SUMMARY
* * The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operational activities, driving process efficiency, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve performance goals. This role combines hands-on leadership with strategic planning to ensure smooth execution across departments. This position excels in team development, workflow optimization, and data-driven decision-making, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Collaborate in developing strategic plans and recommendations to drive growth within the brokerage division.
* Ensure that truck brokerage remains competitive by monitoring market trends and adjusting strategies accordingly.
* Expand business by increasing volume with existing clients and acquiring new accounts.
* Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers to optimize profitability.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers.
* Train and mentor carrier sales reps and account managers.
* Act as a liaison between sales, pricing, account management, and carrier sales.
* Establish and monitor key performance indicators for carrier sales, customer service, and operational efficiency.
* Maintain strong customer relationships and engage with shippers to enhance service offerings and available tools.
* Communicate company policies and qualification standards to internal operations teams and carriers directly to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
* Address customer needs and resolve complex issues with a focus on service excellence.
* Lead and support the truck brokerage team, providing guidance and oversight to ensure operational efficiency.
* Assist in creating and managing departmental budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability.
* Track and analyze load profitability, identifying opportunities to improve margins.
* Optimize use of transportation management systems and reporting tools for better visibility and decision-making.
* Identify opportunities to streamline workflows through automation and digital tools.

** Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, or related field or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.  Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation or supply chain related field.  Lean Six Sigma preferred.
