As an Estimator you will prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. You will provide knowledge of cost and benefits that support profitable business decisions. This team member will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset; must be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key persons. The goal is to provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth.

Minimum Requirements & Expectations (but not limited to)- Understand the project/program and its requirements
- Determine key variables for cost and other estimates
- Gather first‑hand information from sites, or other venues
- Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times etc.
- Participation in bid reviews and attending pre‑bid meetings/job walks.
- Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting
- Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors
- Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.)
- Must have the ability to adhere to original estimate and bill/track progress.
- Able to accurately bill vendors based on estimate timeline.
- Effectively communicate and explain all estimate changes.
- Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)
- Proficient in transmission work from 69kV to 500kV and distribution projects with under-build.
- Maintain open line of communication with operations & project management to ensure understanding of and adherence to the estimate
- Calculating take‑offs for estimate preparation
- Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs etc.)
- Ability to work with field team and personnel across various departments, including suppliers, vendors and sub‑contractors
- Familiarity with financial and project management principles
- In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
- Exquisite math and IT ability with an analytical mindset
- Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
- Thoroughness and reliability
- Excellent organizational skills
- A Construction Management Degree or Civil Engineering Degree
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) would be an asset
3‑5 years of estimating & project management experience in the construction field (Preferably utility construction).
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including use of Excel.
Must be able to anticipate & meet customer needs.
Must adhere to strict confidentiality.
Able to frequently/effectively communicate with all levels of employees/coworkers.
Able to complete and comply with all company reporting procedures & complete all necessary company paperwork.
Must have valid driver’s license.
Able to lift 25 lbs.
Able to work overtime & travel long distances.
Able to read/write & communicate effectively.
Must have acceptable MVR/background.
Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen & adhere to Company drug policy throughout employment.
Capable of taking & following directions.
Work as a team member
Required Physical SkillsMust be able to remain in a stationary position over 50% of the time.
Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
Must be able to move about in an office environment to access files, office machinery, etc.
Capable of properly installing, inspecting & removing PPE.
Ability to wear PPE & understands when to wear it.
Able to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands & sense of balance.
