We are seeking a dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to join our team and ensure the safety of our construction sites and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Job Summary
:
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety and health of workers at HuGus Inc.'s construction sites. The SSHO will develop, implement, and enforce safety programs, conduct regular safety inspections, and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards. This role is critical in preventing accidents, managing risks, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the company.
Key Responsibilities
:
1. Safety Program Development and Implementation:
o Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive site-specific safety and health programs in compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and other applicable regulations.
o Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and develop safety plans tailored to specific projects and sites.
o Ensure all safety programs are communicated effectively to all site personnel, subcontractors, and visitors.
2. Site Safety Inspections and Audits:
o Perform regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with safety standards.
o Document and report all findings from inspections, including recommendations for corrective actions.
o Follow up to ensure all safety issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
3. Training and
Education:
o Conduct safety orientations for all new site employees and subcontractors.
o Provide ongoing safety training and toolbox talks to educate workers on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
o Ensure all personnel are properly trained in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
4. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
o Respond immediately to any safety incidents, accidents, or near-misses on-site.
o Conduct thorough investigations to determine the root causes of incidents and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
o Prepare and submit detailed incident reports to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
5. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure all construction activities comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA and EM 385-1-1.
o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant safety regulations and standards.
o Ensure all necessary safety permits and certifications are obtained and kept current.
6. Safety Documentation and Record Keeping:
o Maintain accurate and comprehensive safety records, including safety inspections, training logs, incident reports, and safety data sheets (SDS).
o Ensure all safety documentation is readily accessible and organized for audits or inspections.
o Prepare and submit safety reports to the Project Manager and Safety Director regularly.
7. Emergency Preparedness and Response:
o Develop and implement emergency response plans for construction sites.
o Ensure all workers are trained on emergency procedures, including evacuation routes, first aid, and fire safety.
o Coordinate with local emergency services as needed.
8. Promoting a Safety Culture:
o Act as a safety leader and advocate for a culture of safety at all HuGus Inc. job sites.
o Encourage proactive safety behavior among all employees and subcontractors.
o Recognize and reward safe practices and behavior on-site.
