Job Overview

A Residential HVAC Estimator plays a crucial role in the construction process by providing accurate cost estimates for single family residential projects. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for take-offs, Manual J load calculations and Manual D duct design, bid review, specification review, preparing estimates, turnover of projects to the Construction Team, and communicating with customers and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Review plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of the project
  • Perform ACCA Manual J residential load calculations by plan, elevation, and orientation
  • Produce ACCA Manual D duct designs sized to the calculated airflow and the available external static pressure
  • Select equipment per ACCA Manual S so systems match the calculated loads without over sizing
  • Prepare permit-ready design packages for submittal to local building departments, in compliance with the Florida Building Code and the Florida Energy Conservation Code
  • Calculate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses required to complete the project
  • Prepare detailed bids and proposals for clients, ensuring all costs are accounted for
  • Work withsuppliersto obtain quotes and ensure competitive pricing
  • Maintain plan-by-plan cost templates and option pricing for repeat builder communities
  • Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Compile and present detailed cost reports to upper management
  • Maintain accurate records of estimated and actual costs for future reference
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in residential HVAC estimating or cost estimation is highly valued, new construction is preferred
  • Hands-on ACCA Manual J load calculation experience using industry software such as Wright soft / Right-Suite, Elite RHVAC, Cool Calc, or equivalent is preferred
  • ACCA Manual D duct design experience, including duct sizing to external static pressure and equivalent length is preferred
  • Ability to read and take off from blueprints, mechanical plans, and specifications
  • Working knowledge of Florida Building Code and Florida Energy Conservation Code requirements for residential mechanical permits
  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimator Technician (CET) is perferred
  • A field background as an installer, lead installer, or service technician before moving to the estimating desk is a plus
  • Service Titan experience is preferred
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Bilingual is a plus
