Job Description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time position for the Division of Forensic Pediatrics and Child Protection. This position will be a non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor.

This position will report to the Chief of the Division of Forensics and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.

The successful candidate will provide the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide medical evaluations of children suspected to be abused or neglected.
  • Participate in training and other professional development for team staff and medical personnel, as directed.
  • Participate in screening of child abuse reports made to the Florida Abuse Hotline and provide selected direct screening as required by law, or when otherwise determined appropriate.
  • Be available 24/7 for consultation to team members and team physicians, including telemedicine consultation, when available and appropriate, for medical assessment needs. Assure medical representation for team staffings.
  • Participate in peer reviews with other team physicians and other medical providers. If designated and approved, participate in monitoring of child protection teams as a member of the statewide designated monitoring team.
  • Attend statewide child protection team meetings and other meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Provide medical consultation in an area of expertise to other teams when requested.
  • Provide depositions and expert court testimony when appropriate.
  • Provide teaching of fellows, residents and students.

Expected Salary

Negotiable base on experience and academic appointment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess a MD/DO degree and possess or be eligible for a Florida Medical License.
