Overview
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is seeking a 12-month, non‑tenure‑earning Lab Lecturer of Chemistry. The position carries a teaching load of five 5-5‑2 sections in fall, spring, and summer. The lecturer will teach introductory and general chemistry laboratory courses and, depending on candidate experience, laboratory courses in modern analytical, biochemistry, and/or organic chemistry. Responsibilities include preparing chemicals and equipment to keep the lab space in good condition, working with the Laboratory Manager and Technician to provide lab support each term, and determining supplies and consumables to be ordered to support teaching labs.
In addition to teaching, service to the department, college, and university will be required.
Report to the Department Chair, Dr. Bryan Knuckley.
Working HoursVaries. This position does not exercise supervisory authority.
Anticipated Start DateAugust 3, 2026.
Qualifications- A minimum of a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Documented experience teaching undergraduate chemistry lab courses.
- Demonstrated commitment and capability to provide an excellent learning environment, to work with student‑centered methods of instruction, and to contribute to the continuing development and implementation of curricular content.

- General Teaching Philosophy (1–2 pages) that includes:
1) Prior teaching experience and
2) Strategies for teaching students with varying levels of prerequisite knowledge and helping them succeed and persist in STEM disciplines. - Names, phone numbers, and email addresses of three professional references.
