Immediate High School Band Teacher / Director
Join our KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools team as an Immediate High School Band Teacher / Director. This role focuses on teaching high school students across grade levels, coordinating performances, and expanding the band program.
Job DescriptionKIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks a high school band teacher to join our school team as soon as possible. The band teacher will instruct students across grade levels and sections. Some continuing students from a KIPP middle school will have a foundation in band instruction, while new students may not have been exposed to band instruction. The band teacher will coordinate and supervise performances, inventory instruments, and ensure that all students have access to an instrument.
As the school grows, the vision for the band includes a marching band, a jazz ensemble, and a drumline.
The band teacher will have a vision for band performances that they plan and run smoothly. This position works closely with the electives department. Teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and fulfilling other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by the school leader.
Please note the location of Bold City High School is the McDuff campus located at 1440 McDuff Avenue North.
Compensation And Benefits- Starting salary for a first‑year lead teacher is $50,000

- Bachelor's Degree
- Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification (Music K-12)
- At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom

- Passing a background check, as required by law
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of high school band experience
- Experience with high school jazz band, ensemble, or marching band
