Job Purpose

As a HS English Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth. Develop lessons consistent with established guidelines, establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge to provide an effective educational foundation in accordance with each student’s ability.

Responsibilities
  • Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Creates purposeful and appropriate lesson plans maximizing time on task.
  • Presents subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunities and provides real‑world, application‑based examples.
  • Reviews student records to develop a foundation of understanding regarding each student’s abilities and needs; maintains accurate and complete records.
  • Strives to maximize educational achievement of each student.
  • Utilizes a variety of student learning modalities, differentiated instruction, diagnostic assessment, and provides progress reports.
  • Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assigns lessons, corrects student work, reviews oral presentations.
  • Coordinates class field trips, prepares students for state requisite assessments.
  • Maintains school curriculum and assists with ongoing curriculum revision.
  • Assists in selection of books, equipment, instructional materials.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, maintains positive rapport, ensures safety, implements conduct policies, and develops reasonable classroom rules.
  • Plans individual and group learning activities, incorporates diagnostic information from IEPs, and meets all necessary precautions to protect supplies.
  • Communicates with parents, collaborates with administration, maintains confidentiality, participates in extracurricular activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to the position and company mission.
  • Strong time‑management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, active listening, negotiating).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Student Information System, and email communications.
  • Ability to be consistent, punctual, follow instructions, respond to feedback.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, thoroughness, and positive character education.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
  • Minimum 1–3 years successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship).
  • Command of grades/subject‑specific content and learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
  • Understanding of and commitment to company values.
  • Successful criminal and employment background check.
  • Adherence to Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
  • Ability to perform other assigned duties.
Work Environment
  • Usual schools working conditions; noisy during high student traffic.
Physical Demands
  • No physical exertion required; light work up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Travel within or outside state.
