Wednesday Release

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. Wellness Wednesdays staff leave at dismissal.

Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks middle school teachers for fifth‑eighth grade classrooms in 2025‑26. We are building a candidate pool for Lead Middle School teachers anticipated for 2026‑27. Selected candidates may be invited to interview when openings arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are outlined by their Principal.

OUR CURRENT MODEL

There are four “home room” teachers on each grade level who are each responsible for teaching a core subject. Class size ~26 students per class. Subjects:
English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science. Fifth grade is part of our middle school model.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Starting salary for a first‑year lead teacher is $50,000.

* Salary does not include stipends. Certified New‑to‑KIPP staff receive average $13,000 plus TSIA stipends. Role eligible for instructional stipends if have FLDOE certification.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility in one of the following areas:
    • Elementary Education K-6 for 5th or 6th grade ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies
    • English 5‑9, Math 5‑9, Science 5‑9, Social Science 5‑9 for grades 5, 6, 7, or 8.
    • English 6‑12, Math 6‑12, Science 6‑12, Social Science 6‑12 for grades 6, 7, or 8.
  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track‑record of high achievement.
