Position: School Counselor (Part-Time, Exempt)

Location:

St. Patrick Catholic School

Reports to:

Principal

Primary Function

Under the direction of the School Principal, responsible for providing individual and group counseling to students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the Catholic Mission of the school, aligning speech and actions with Church teachings.
  • Demonstrate Gospel values and participate in faith community activities.
  • Build the school’s faith community through planning religious and service activities.
  • Adhere to Catholic Doctrine and principles of morality.
  • Develop creative intervention methods and coordinate student interventions.
  • Serve as a resource for teachers and parents on counseling needs.
  • Work compassionately with students, parents, and staff.
  • Assist in planning and implementing behavior management strategies.
  • Act as a liaison with staff and external resources.
  • Guide teachers on classroom management and student behavior.
  • Document counseling activities and track student progress.
  • Provide staff with information on counseling programs.
  • Help interpret student data for teachers and parents.
  • Supervise student activities as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church, if baptized.
  • Master’s degree with a valid Florida guidance counselor certificate or license as Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Experience in special education preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter, well-organized, team player.
  • Availability for evening/weekend work; reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in computer technology, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a ministerial environment.
  • Ability to complete a criminal background check.
  • Professional appearance.
Physical/Mental Requirements

Requires coordination, manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability, and ability to lift as required.
