Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Instructor to join our team and inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers!
Wize is a project-based computing academy where students learn from a combination of online projects and offline hands‑on activities. Programs at the Wize Computing Academy are designed to meaningfully extend STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) learning and expand a child’s mind through the development of critical thinking, logic, teamwork, and reasoning skills. We prepare students to be the innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century!
We are currently hiring a Lead Instructor to support after‑school programs from 2:30‑4:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays. There may also be opportunities to work on other days through additional programs, including clubs, camps, and special events. Most Instructors work between 6‑15 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities- Effectively manage a classroom with children between 4 years to 15 years old.
- Engage students in fun and relevant coding & robotics lessons based on established curriculum and specific classroom needs.
- Observe and track students’ progress and attendance.
- Reinforce positive student behavior and session rules.
- Maintain a positive relationship with all students, families and staff.
- Communicate with management to discuss member progress, needs, and concerns.
- Attend meetings and professional development training organized by management.
- Present oneself and one’s ideas with clarity, confidence, and poise.
- Experience teaching or working with children in a classroom or educational setting, preferably teaching a STEAM subject.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
- Patient, enthusiastic, and creative approach to teaching, with a passion for inspiring curiosity and problem‑solving in children.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively execute lessons and activities.
- Willingness to perform all job duties with enthusiasm and a positive outlook.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and address varying needs.
- A clear background check.
- Experience with Google Classroom and Google office products.
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced education in computer science, education, or a related field.
- Experience with First Lego League or similar competitions.
- Interest in Legos, robotics, Minecraft, gaming, coding, and other technology platforms.
- CPR and first aid certification.
This Instructor will primarily work in a classroom, interacting directly with children and collaborating with other instructors. The position will involve travel to schools and community centers where programs are held. The work schedule may vary depending on program needs, including evenings and weekends for classes and special events such as summer camps though most classes will take place in the afternoons Monday through Friday.
PayRange
$18‑28/hour plus performance‑based bonus of up to 10% at the end of each semester.
