Position summary:
Your primary role will be to facilitate student learning, not only helping our students achieve their program and course objectives but guiding them as they shape their future in the industry. Our instructors organize all aspects of the classroom function, including cleanliness, safety, demonstration materials, and lecture. You will administer lessons following a pre-developed lesson plan, leading your students through the practical, hands-on application of the lessons you teach.
- Motivate students by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and sensitivity for their concerns. Engage students and actively involve them in classroom discussions and activities. Identify different student learning styles and adjust instructional style accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades; advise students on attendance, grades, and discipline issues as necessary.
- Create and maintain a safe classroom environment at all times.
- Manage all tools assigned to the classroom: issue, inspect, repair, and teach proper handling of those tools.
- Communicate, support, and enforce school policies and procedures; advise students accordingly.
- Ensure an ethical and fair testing environment during periods of testing.
- Maintain classroom equipment through evaluation, inspection, parts ordering, and repair.
- Continuously evaluate the curriculum to ensure continuing relevance.
- Conform to prescribed methods of record keeping as directed by supervisory staff.
- Communicate promptly regarding supplies, tools, or other essentials needed for students in the classroom.
- Maintain a working field knowledge through continuing education and demonstrate ongoing professional development of technical expertise and instructional practice.
- Attend semi-annual graduation ceremonies; attendance is required for instructors.
- Participate in the Instructor Training and Development program; develop and maintain related records and monitor new instructors in training. Provide mentorship and feedback for new instructors and assist in the selection of new instructors.
- Teach new instructors how to request and order materials, conduct monthly tool inventories, report discrepancies, and manage classroom supplies and tools.
- Assist with curriculum development, including topic research, material acquisition, lesson plan development, and test creation as needed.
- Support safety programs and ensure enforcement of safety requirements across classroom and laboratory areas.
The successful applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED, and the minimum required years of field experience as defined by the region.
Physical Environment- May stand for long periods and use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment.
- May involve stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds; work may occur in classroom or shop environments with potential exposure to varying conditions.
