Position: Professional Learning Consultant Accountability (Contract)

Ascend Ed Intelligence is a district leadership platform. Ascend Ed IQ unifies assessment, attendance, and behavior data so district leaders, principals, and teachers can see learning gains and student movement across PM cycles, align instruction to FLDOE benchmarks and reporting categories, and act while there is still time in the year to act.

About this engagement

We contract with experienced Florida education leaders to deliver on-site professional learning for the districts that use Ascend Ed IQ. This is a training engagement. It is not a sales, account management, or customer success position.

All delivery is in person, at district and school sites. You will lead sessions that help district leaders, principals, coaches, and teachers read their own data and decide what to do with it: what PM1 to PM3 learning gains are showing, which reporting categories need attention, where lower-quartile movement is happening, and which students need support next.

We are engaging three to five consultants to cover Florida, with the goal of regional coverage so most engagements are within a reasonable drive of where you live. Engagements are offered as districts schedule training, in your region and elsewhere in Florida when you are available for travel. You accept the engagements you want, you control how you prepare and deliver your sessions, you set your own hours outside of the scheduled district sessions you accept, and you are free to work with other clients.

Scope

of work
  • Deliver on-site professional learning for district and school teams across Florida
  • Tailor session content to each district's goals, FAST results, and accountability priorities
  • Coach educators on translating question-level performance, learning gains, and benchmark data into instructional decisions
  • Lead on-site district onboarding and rollout sessions
  • Provide a brief written session summary and field observations after each engagement
  • Contribute to facilitator materials when that work is scoped into an engagement
Experience we are looking for
  • Prior service as a school or district administrator (principal, assistant principal, district director, curriculum or accountability leader), or as an instructional coach with equivalent depth
  • Working command of Florida accountability: FAST, PM1/PM2/PM3, learning gains, reporting categories, school grade components, lower-quartile movement
  • A record of leading professional learning for adult learners at the school or district level
  • Comfort working directly with student performance data and connecting it to instructional action
  • Clear, credible presence with district leadership
  • Residence in Florida, with the ability to travel to district sites statewide
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in education
Engagement terms
  • Independent contractor (1099). This is not an employment position. No wages, benefits, equity, or paid leave are provided.
  • $80 per hour, invoiced per engagement.
  • Ascend Ed IQ certification is required before your first district engagement. Certification is self-paced and compensated at a flat fee of $750 on completion.
  • Travel is reimbursed under Ascend Ed Intelligence's contractor travel policy, including mileage and approved lodging for overnight engagements. Travel time is not billed at the hourly rate.
  • Consultants contract through their own business entity and supply their own transportation and equipment.
  • All sessions are delivered on site. Engagements may be anywhere in Florida and regularly involve day travel, with overnight stays for districts outside your immediate area.
Screening, licensing, and confidentiality
  • Ability to complete Level 2 background screening and fingerprinting as required by Florida law and by the contractor and visitor policies of each district served, which vary by district
  • Current business liability and auto insurance
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Execution of Ascend Ed Intelligence's contractor agreement, including confidentiality and student data privacy terms consistent with FERPA and Florida CS/HB 699 (SOPIPA)
  • Legally eligible to provide contract services in the United States

Facilitating full-day sessions involves presenting for extended periods and transporting printed materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds to and from district sites. If you need an accommodation to perform an engagement, tell us and we will work with you.
