Position: Job Description - Engineering Associate

Summary

The Engineering Associate (AS) is under the direct stewardship of the Project Manager (PM). The AS serves as the primary resource for management of production for time-intensive design, drawing, and modeling tasks for the accounts, projects, and teams assigned. This position is intended to be the next step for employees seeking professional licensure and provides experience in project and account management at a higher level while broadening the knowledge base of engineering design.

Primary

Duties
  • Account Management
  • Initial point of contact for Central Processing, Customer Service, and the Client on day-to-day drawing and modeling tasks
  • Forecast and follow through regarding weekly site-specific goals and expectations in collaboration with PM
  • Review Construction Documents for assigned Accounts/Clients, providing quality control and education opportunities for Designers using company standards
  • Construction Administration Services
  • Field calls, RFIs, generate solutions and issue revisions and addenda under the supervision of the PM
  • Drafting, Design, and Plan Development
  • Prepare Construction Documents under the oversight of PM
  • Contribute to product development via delegated tasks in collaboration with PM
  • Direct Design support for varying single and multi-family projects under the direction of PM
  • Spearhead design tasks across varying market sectors and construction means/materials/methods
  • Perform preliminary wind load design for coordination with delegated design of pre-manufactured building components, under the direction of PM
  • Research and evaluate new/alternative products to evaluate template program alternatives
  • Review and evaluate building codes and product specifications
  • Advanced design opportunities at the discretion of the PM
  • Project Tracking and Communication
  • Maintain log of work performed
  • Effectively track time and job status to maintain efficient workflow
  • Efficient and competent use of project tracking software
  • Report to and communicate effectively with PM and Clients regarding project status
  • Team Management, Mentoring and Training
  • Contribute to mentoring and training on software, client, and account standards
  • Report to and communicate with manager regarding mentorship and training efforts
  • Distribute and provide quality control for design tasks to designer pool at PM/PDM direction
  • Use available resources efficiently and effectively
  • All other assigned duties
Knowledge
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, on track for professional licensure
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of related experience, or equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit/discipline-specific software
  • Advanced knowledge of preparing Construction Documents
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction techniques and Building Code
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Deltek experience preferred

Work Environment/Physical Demands

General office environment. Regularly sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Frequently stand and walk. May lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
