Sr. Rail Bridge Engineer –

Hybrid work model – based in Jacksonville, FL or Atlanta, GA. Regular office attendance required.
What You Will DoWork on complex rail projects for Class I railroads, short lines and transit agencies. Responsible for structural design, rehabilitation, inspection, load ratings, documentation, and project management.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural bridge designs using AREMA standards.
- Document and organize design calculations per GFT’s Quality Management Plan.
- Check calculations and drawings from others.
- Ensure accuracy of engineering design, reports, load ratings, plans, and budgets.
- Conduct bridge inspections for railway bridges.
- Participate in construction inspection and field data collection.
- Lead design and project management efforts, including meetings and client relationships.
- Perform QC/QA reviews and mentor junior engineers.
- Develop and present proposals and marketing materials.
- Maintain professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies.
- Travel within continental United States as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering (ABET accredited).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in design/management on rail projects.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- AREMA “Manual for Railroad Engineering” experience.
- Knowledge of Class I railroad bridge standards.
- Micro Station and structural analysis software experience.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- MS Office proficiency.
- Willingness to travel within the continental United States.
- Experience directly with Class I railroads.
- Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering.
- AREMA membership and committee participation.
$120,000 – $160,000, dependent on experience and location.
