The purpose of this role is to specify, design, construct, program, and maintain automated equipment for a wide variety of manufacturing processes. This includes the integration and troubleshooting of various automated components, including PLCs, robotics, HMIS, industrial vision systems, data handling, MES systems, control panels, servos, sensors, and more.
Responsibilities- Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, manufacturing, or mechanical preferred)
- 3+ years experience in a related field
- Hands‑on experience using design and calculation software
- Deep knowledge of automation in manufacturing processes
- Understanding of electrical engineering codes and safety standards
- Strong background in PLC and MES systems, experience working with robotics, HMI's, servos, etc.
- Complete automation projects and tasks as they relate to the integration of various automation components (PLCs, robotics, HMIS, industrial vision systems, data handling, MES systems, control panels, servos, sensors, pneumatic controls, safety systems, etc.)
- Program PLC logic for both the creation of new and modification of existing systems (primarily Allen‑Bradley)
- Identify, scope, and lead hardware or software upgrade projects for performance improvements, critical component obsolescence, or other business needs
- Support the troubleshooting of complex and recurring issues of automated equipment by collaborating with various cross‑functional teams
- Contribute to equipment specification creation for automated equipment to ensure it complies with all performance, construction, quality, safety, and budgetary constraints
- Collaborate with mechanical and equipment engineers to develop and implement robust equipment and processes
- Establish, document, and improve standard methods for operating process equipment
- Lead role in the identification of continuous improvement opportunities, scoping, and justification of implementing automated process controls to improve OEE
- Promote a safety culture within the site and the team
