Star Catcher Industries, Inc., located in Jacksonville, FL, has an opportunity for a Spacecraft Electrical Engineer to support the development of space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network, its orbital power grid. This role will be responsible for design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems and components used on spacecraft, satellites, and other space-related technologies.
Responsibilities- Design COTS-based PCBAs for use in a space environment, including motion controllers, power distribution, analog processing, and control systems.
- Rapid prototyping of electrical systems to verify their performance and reliability.
- Oversee the manufacturing and assembly of electrical hardware and work with suppliers and manufacturers to procure parts, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Engage in R&D to innovate new technologies or improve existing systems to enhance mission capabilities.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems and components into spacecraft, satellites, and other systems, ensuring materials are compatible with design specifications and operational requirements.
- Create technical documentation, including schematics, specifications, and test plans, to support compliance and future reference.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets related to electrical engineering tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of electrical engineering experience, with experience specifically in designing Class III IPC 6012 PCBs that operate in a space environment.
- Experience with Altium Designer.
- Experience leading the development of electrical systems for challenging environments and missions.
- Experience with NASA/DoD life cycle and technical reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR).
- Creative problem-solving skills, with the capability to develop innovative solutions to advanced engineering challenges.
- Proven experience with one or more of the following on at least one space vehicle program: batteries, microprocessors, FPGAs, solar arrays, power distribution/conversion.
- Familiarity with space industry regulations, safety standards relevant to space missions and operations.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interface with the team and organization and prioritize tasks, projects, and personnel from a variety of disciplines.
