Position OverviewPermanent position under Direct‑Hire Authority (DHA). Opening and closing dates: 17 December 2025 – 15 January 2026.
Responsibilities- Perform field site visits to active construction sites and collaborate with field personnel in project offices to resolve unforeseen soil mechanics problems.
- Develop geotechnical designs, including shallow and deep foundation analysis, slope stability, and seepage analysis, and determine the best system for structural foundations.
- Coordinate with other engineers in preparing contract plans, technical specifications, and detailed design reports.
- Conduct scientific studies of subsurface materials to determine their suitability for the construction of various structures.
- Review and provide guidance on work completed by others to ensure technical accuracy, adequacy, and completeness, including evaluation of data in existing project reports, maps, drawings, survey, and core boring reports.
- Review all applicable sections of reports prepared by AE firms to assure compliance with Corps of Engineers regulations.
- Applications must be submitted between 12:01 AM (EST) of the open date and 11:59 PM (EST) of the close date to receive consideration.
- All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must register for Selective Service prior to appointment.
- A trial or probationary period may be required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- The position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 35% of the time.
- The incumbent must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions.
- Hiring incentives such as recruitment/relocation bonuses, service credit for leave, and student loan repayment may be authorized (subject to available budget).
- Relocation (PCS) expenses may be authorized (subject to available budget) if determined to be in the best interests of the government.
- The position is eligible for situational telework.
