YourImpact
- Perform office work and fieldwork on civil, environmental and water resource engineering projects, including environmental remediation/restoration, parks/recreation, stormwater/drainage, and resiliency/sustainability projects.
- Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; prepare construction safety and phasing plans; update infrastructure layout plans requiring coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants and clients.
- Involved from project inception to completion in the management of design and construction of infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, grading, and drainage.
- Lead civil engineering projects of varying scales, ensuring team members understand tasks and deadlines; prepare and monitor project budgets, track hours and expenses, supervise subcontractors.
- Assist with engineering review of permit applications, design plans and specifications, and periodic construction inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and sound engineering practice.
- Meet with public or private entities or individuals to discuss engineering/construction challenges and programs.
- Support and develop a client base for civil/environmental engineering services including identifying additional business development opportunities.
- Mentor staff to support growth and professional development.
- Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices.
- Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional and locally funded projects, as well as proposals and business development opportunities.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited college or university
- 10+ years of experience in engineering and civil design with public works, environmental or water resources projects
- Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proficiency with civil engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and permitting
- Proficiency with infrastructure design
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with technical and non-technical audiences
- Self-leadership and ability to guide mid-level to senior team members with QA/QC adherence
- Technical writing and office automation proficiency; experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS or equivalent tools preferred
- Experience with preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to apply technical knowledge to data and results
- Ability to coordinate and direct subcontractors and ensure safe, efficient task completion
- Experience with business development and project proposals/qualification statements preferred
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company health, safety and harassment policies
- Flexibility to varying schedules and ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
- Occasional travel may be required
- Master’s Degree in Engineering
