Responsibilities- Perform detailed bid document review to accurately capture or solicit vendors/subcontractors for quotes.
- Attend Pre‑Bid Surveys to incorporate site conditions into the estimate.
- Perform detailed take‑offs and produce estimate software reports.
- Identify, compile, and submit RFI questions in a timely manner.
- Review and qualify vendor/subcontractor quotes against bid documents to ensure accurate scope coverage at the time of the bid.
- Consult with clients, vendors, and Project Managers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Capture remaining estimating price data (e.g., management and general conditions costs).
- Perform breakout, alternate, and value‑engineering pricing as required.
- Assist with proposal scope letters for accurate inclusions, exclusions & qualifications.
- Provide project turnover information after award and participate in turnover meetings.
- Assist in tracking bid status to acquire bid results.
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost‑effectiveness.
- Participate in prime/general contractor bid review meetings.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Required:
Bachelor’s Degree, or HS Diploma with 5 years estimating experience, or HS Diploma with 8 years trade‑related experience. - A valid Florida Driver’s License is required.
- Understands plumbing code and systems required.
- Familiar with modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Proficient in Estimating Software, Advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic computer operations.
- Correct English usage, grammar, and oral communication skills.
- Determines actual project scope and cost.
- Protects the company from financial loss associated with errors or omissions.
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
- Meets time schedules and deadlines, and plans and organizes work.
- Works confidently with discretion and independently with little direction.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
- Exhibits great attention to detail.
- Is well organized and reliable.
- Comfortable working with numbers and technology.
- Multitasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Wins work at a reasonable profit.
