About the Position
You will serve as a Division Chief at the USACE Dam Safety Center (DSC) and/or the Dam Safety Production Center (DSPC). This job announcement will fill multiple vacancies for a Supervisory Interdisciplinary at the full performance level GS-14 and may be filled at any of the duty locations listed on the announcement. The location must be negotiated and agreed upon by both the losing and the gaining organization prior to the selectee receiving a firm job offer.
Duties- Serve as DSPC or DSC Director’s designated representative and liaison to select district points of contact (generally E/EC chiefs) throughout the Enterprise for the overall oversight and execution of the dam safety modification mission.
- Provide oversight of dam safety engineering studies, designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates, engineering risk and reliability techniques, and National dam safety portfolio management.
- Provide Enterprise leadership in the development and delivery of group and special training to employees, partners, and stakeholders on dam safety, engineering assessments, and risk and reliability analyses.
- Provide strategic vision, oversight, and technical direction to the work of subordinate professional engineers (structural, mechanical, civil/site), engineering technicians, and/or AEs in developing Center-related products for dam safety projects.
- Provide improved approaches to common problems and solutions to new problems associated with the most complex, interrelated, and unprecedented issues and threats associated with USACE dams.
- Assist the DSPC or DSC Director in establishing annual program goals for DSMC / DSC activities, considering funding issues and staff capabilities, and increasing dam safety engineering capability within USACE.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may have the requirement of 20-30% of Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel.
- This position may require incumbent to complete a one-year supervisory probation.
- This position may require Incumbent to possess and maintain a valid State motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment.
- This position requires Incumbent to possess and maintain a State Registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist requirement.
