We are seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to shape our financial foundation and accelerate our growth trajectory.
Position OverviewThe Director of Finance & Accounting will be a strategic, hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including accounting, FP&A, budgeting, cost management, and supply chain financial support.
This role is perfect for someone who began their career in Accounting, built strong technical and compliance skills, and later expanded into broader Finance leadership. The ideal candidate brings experience partnering with manufacturing and supply chain teams, improving operational efficiencies, and guiding companies through periods of significant growth.
Reporting directly to the COO, this leader will play a critical role in aligning financial insights with operational strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the full-cycle accounting function, including month-end close, general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP.
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and governance as the company scales.
- Lead annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external accounting and advisory partners.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-range strategic planning.
- Develop financial models to support scenario planning, capital investments, and operational decisions.
- Drive financial visibility through dashboards, KPIs, and variance analysis.
- Partner with the COO and leadership team to translate business goals into clear financial plans.
- Serve as the financial partner to Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing leadership.
- Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS), production variances, labor efficiencies, scrap/waste, inventory, and capacity utilization.
- Support pricing decisions, supplier negotiations, and cost-optimization initiatives.
- Implement and improve standard costing systems, BOM costing, and inventory accounting processes.
- Provide financial insights that enhance factory performance, logistics efficiency, and overall operational profitability.
- Support the company through rapid growth, operational expansion, and potential new product, facility, or market launches.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and capital expenditures, performing ROI and payback analysis.
- Implement scalable systems, processes, and automation to enhance reporting and data integrity.
- Guide the organization through financial readiness for expansion, including potential M&A activity, new manufacturing capabilities, or multi-site operations.
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop clear processes and structure to support the company’s growth trajectory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8–15+ years of progressive experience across Accounting and Finance, with a proven transition from hands-on accounting to strategic finance leadership.
- Strong experience working with supply chain, manufacturing, or production-based operations.
- Demonstrated success supporting a company through growth, scale, or transformation.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial modeling.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel modeling.
- Experience implementing or upgrading ERP systems (Dynamics preferred).
- Experience in private equity–backed or fast-growth environments.
- Background in standard costing, lean manufacturing metrics, or operational finance.
- Excellent communication skills—with the ability to influence both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
