Overview

To ensure that quality diabetes self‑management education is delivered through a coordinated and systematic process and ensures accountability and continuity of the education process.

• Age of Patients Served:
  Adolescent (13‑17 years), Adult (18‑64 years), Geriatric (=>65 years)
• Required
  
  Education:
  
  BS in Nutrition or Nursing
• Preferred Education:
  
  Master’s in Nutrition or Nursing
• Necessary
  
  Skills:
  
  Organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, decision‑making skills, stress‑management skills, prioritization skills
• Required Licensure/
  
  Certifications:
  • Current professional license in the State of Florida
  • Current professional registration for registered dietitians
  • Certified Diabetes Educator required within one (1) year of date of hire or transfer into the position
• Required Experience:
  
  One year of any of the following:
  • Diabetes Management and Self‑Management Education
  • Teaching experience
  • RN Clinical Experience
• Preferred Experience:
  • Less than one year – Diabetes Management and Self‑Management Education
  • 1‑2 years – Teaching experience
  • 3‑5 years – Clinical Experience
