Overview
An Advanced Practice Provider IV (APP IV) is a direct patient‑care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. Clinical area: primarily inpatient, critical care, Labor & Delivery, or emergency department.
Settings > 50% inpatient hospital‑based.
- Performs or assists with complex procedures in office, inpatient unit, operating room, or emergency department; may perform first‑assist functions in the operating room. Call coverage may be required.
- Actively participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees as part of an interdisciplinary health‑care team.
- Directly cares for patients with all types of neuroendovascular pathology, including acute strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhage, etc., both in critical care and outpatient settings.
- Opportunities to scrub in/first assist in neuroendovascular procedures.
- Monitors or manages medical/invasive devices and placement of devices within scope of practice; may manage pre‑/post‑operative and pre‑/post‑procedure patients.
- Conducts high‑level evaluation and triage specific to the specialty/subspecialty, including patient histories, physical examinations, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, differential diagnoses, ordering ancillary studies, medical decision‑making, treatment, and stabilization.
- Formulates comprehensive health‑management plans in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals; includes progress notes, narrative discharge summaries, consults, etc. Facilitates patient participation in health‑care decisions.
- Contributes to development, implementation, and expansion of programs and initiatives, including research activities, quality improvement projects, etc., where appropriate; participates in professional development opportunities and introduces innovation in practice.
- Enters pertinent clinical information into the patient’s medical record accurately and timely; documents and closes open encounters, My Chart messages, and other EMR communications per institutional requirements.
- Educates and counsels patients/families regarding health care, including routine health maintenance.
- Responds to consults, handles discharge planning, and schedules procedures routinely.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Experience:
2 years in critical care, Labor & Delivery, ED/OR care settings preferred. - Education:
High School Diploma or GED required;
Master's in Nursing Practice or Physician Assistant program required. - Certification/Licensure: APRN licensure required at time of hire; PA licensure in the State of Florida/Georgia required;
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred;
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred. - Other:
