OverviewThe Mayo Clinic Dietetic Technician (Dietetic Tech) supports patient nutrition care by providing nutrition interventions, counseling, education, and documentation of nutrition care plans. This role participates in quality improvement activities under the direction of a supervising dietitian and contributes to a patient-centered care environment.
Responsibilities- Provide nutrition intervention, nutrition counseling, education, and documentation of nutrition care plans.
- Participate in quality improvement programs under the direction of the dietitian.
- Screen new admissions, conduct meal rounds, calculate calorie counts, and check tray lines.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life span; assess data and interpret information relative to age-specific needs.
- Maintain proficient computer skills for daily tasks.

- Enrollment in or completion of:
An approved Dietetic Technology Consortium Program at an ACEND-accredited college or university; OR an approved Nutrition or Dietetics Bachelor's Program at an ACEND-accredited institution, within one year of hire date. Must pass the national registration examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). - Must complete continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.
- Good interpersonal skills and a thorough understanding of special diets (through coursework or on-the-job training).
- Certification as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics within 1 year after accepting Tech-Dietetic position.

Nonexempt - Compensation: $20.00 - $22.16/hour
