OverviewVeterans Outreach coordinator who will work and support a comprehensive interdisciplinary medical team in assessing patients’ ailments primarily due to TBI, physiological, and psychosocial conditions. In addition, this individual will support the appropriate collection of data and information for strategic use. Works independently in conducting the necessary outreach of department in coordination with external Veteran organizations, NGOs, and other agencies that may support the cause of the department and patients in the UF‑HBWP.
Some work may require collecting and analyzing data on local demographics, organizations, and entities involved in various phases of the Health Brain Wellness. In addition to some sundry administrative tasks may be assigned.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a database of outreach organizations and individuals, including volunteers, who can support and serve as additional sources of support for those patients in the UF-HBWP program.
- Develop strong partnerships with national outreach programs to benefit and grow UF-HBWP and its network visibility through proactive engagement across the veteran community, including visible participation in organizational events (some of which may include travel).
- Assist with generating and developing veteran referral sources and community and business partner organizations for UF-HBWP; build a nationwide network to assist with communications and promotional campaigns across all mediums between programs supportive to the UF-HBWP and its affiliates to drive UF-HBWP visibility, value, and mission.
- Update and maintain the UF-HBWP website, in concert with the director and IT department, to ensure all outreach information is current and accurate, including updating and maintaining the MIBH presence on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Linked In.
- Assist the director with sundry administrative and logistics duties related to database development and maintenance, and travel as required.
- Facilitate and participate in outings with patient and partner organizations as well as outreach opportunities, and collaborate with the Case Management team on patient referrals and referral sources in line with the patient after-care program.
- Coordinate and assist with the design, development, and implementation of the Veteran Programs strategy and achievement of all Veteran Program goals aligned to the greater vision and mission of UF-HBWP.
- Maintain awareness of relevant legislative policy and national veterans’ challenges and assistance initiatives supporting the Veteran programs goals.
- Assist with presenting organization information, including discussions, metrics, goals, and progress to organizations as necessary when other department principals may not be available.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Experience Requirements: 2 years practical experience.
- 2 years military experience at a minimum rank of E‑5 or O‑3; work with veteran outreach programs (preferred).
- 2 years experience generating and developing veteran referral sources.
- Experience working within a higher education and/or medical education environment.
- Experience with various social media applications (preferred).
- 2 years experience in marketing and communications; volunteer experience.
- 2 years working with military or patients with TBI, PTSD, PH (preferred).
- Education Requirements: 5 years of relevant work experience (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required).
- Master’s in Social Work (preferred).
