Overview
Administers the Clinical Data Quality's provider online/electronic learning initiatives pertaining to medical record documentation, coding, reimbursement, and billing compliance. Serves as a subject matter expert for the organization in coding-related matters, non‑physician practitioner and teaching physician billing compliance, E‑Learning authoring software, and learning management system administration. Assists in formulating department policies that determine department E‑Learning processes. Coordinates and balances the E‑Learning educational efforts and activities of the department to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting the organization's educational needs.
Provides training on Elearning software use and learning management system administration to other members of the CDQ Department. Oversees the development of, and approves all E‑Learning content associated with, the aforementioned educational/training programs. Determines provider training objectives to be accomplished via online education and is responsible for the initial plan and design of online provider educational material, as well as enhancing existing courses.
Ensures that training is updated as soon as possible to account for industry changes. Ensures that coding and billing communications are distributed as issues and trends are identified. Has in-depth knowledge of E‑Learning best practices, as well as commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures within medical coding and billing. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision;
reports to a director. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Responsibilities
- Administers the department's E‑Learning initiatives pertaining to medical record documentation, coding, reimbursement, and billing compliance education.
- Assists in administration of Office of Educational Affairs educational initiatives for residents/fellows/PDAs by assigning annual Medicare Parts C/D Fraud waste/Abuse, EPIC, Fatigue Management, Opioid Prescribing, Hospitality, Hurricane Preparedness, Incident Reporting, MRI Safety and Infectious Disease Control educational courses for residents.
- Reviews industry correspondence and literature, summarizes pertinent coding and reimbursement information, and distributes to appropriate providers, clinics staff, and UFJP personnel via e‑mail, in‑person presentations, or online course assignment.
- Works with the Business Groups, Medical Departments, GME Office, Ambulatory Services and the Office of Physician Billing Compliance to ensure the organization's full compliance with providers' annual Mandatory Provider Education program requirements. Coordinates follow‑up education and training given to providers with the Office of Compliance.
- Ensures that all online educational/training material is revised/updated as soon as possible after coding/payer/regulatory changes are made. Determines training objectives of future online educational initiatives/courses and in‑service.
- Researches and resolves coding and reimbursement policy issue questions. Regularly communicates via email, tool, and/or E‑Learning course coding and billing information for providers and staff.
- By way of E‑Learning authoring software, develops and maintains educational content pertaining to documentation, coding, reimbursement, specialty‑specific rules, and billing compliance topics for providers. Designs (and approves) and publishes online training material, including course slides, attachments and tests.
- Develops and administers (including assigning, publicizing, and tracking) annual and periodic refresher training to all providers on the topics of Medical Record Documentation and Coding, Non‑Physician Practitioner Billing and Teaching Physician Billing Compliance.
