Job Purpose and Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Follow company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Show empathy and genuine care to create heartfelt moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services; and solve or escalate patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, performing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc., as directed by pharmacy leadership.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; volunteer to travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities (if permissible)
  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status and support vaccine preparation and administration.
  • Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer to the pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
  • Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
  • Review, collect, and document patient information as required.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state – learn more.
  • Must be at least 16 years old if the state board does not set a minimum age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school, if the state board does not set a minimum educational requirement.
Essential Functions

  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.

    • Concentrate on tasks over time.
    • Pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
    • Ensure prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety.

    • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner.
    • Recognize patients’ reactions and respond appropriately.
  • Communication Skills
    • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
    • Practice active listening, ask clarifying questions, and avoid interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Mathematical Reasoning
    • Use math to solve problems such as determining tablet counts and fill quantities.
  • Problem Resolution
    • Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
  • Physical Demands
    • Remain mobile and upright for extended periods.
    • Lift, scan, and bag items.
    • Reach overhead and use body weight for lifting up to 20 lbs.
    • Perform tasks requiring precision and rapid machine adjustments.
  • Other tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years’ previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer‑service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.
Working Conditions
  • Anticipated weekly hours: 29
  • Time type:
    Part time
  • Pay range: $16.50 – $25.00 per hour (base hourly rate; actual offer depends on factors such as experience, education, geography).
