Baptist Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist Intern to join our Surgical Services Team at Baptist Medical Center Downtown. This is a full-time career development opportunity designed for individuals pursuing a career as a Surgical Technologist.

This role focuses on gaining the knowledge and skills needed to successfully complete the program and transition into the Surgical Technologist role. The intern develops hands-on skills while following hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety protocols.

As part of their professional training, the intern learns to assist the surgical team in preparing operating rooms, maintaining a sterile field, and supporting safe and efficient surgical procedures under the supervision of experienced Surgical Technologists and clinical staff. Supervised responsibilities may include:

Preparing instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies.

Assisting with surgical counts.

Maintaining sterile technique and the sterile field.

Learning to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.

Ensuring equipment is properly handled and available.

Supporting safe and efficient operating room procedures.

Experience Requirements:

No prior Surgical Technologist experience required.

Education & Credential Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must meet eligibility requirements for the Baptist Health Surgical Technologist training program.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required or must be obtained as required by the program.

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification is not required for this internship.
