API and Data Strategy Director, Development

Overview

ICE Mortgage Technology (IMT) is seeking a visionary and hands-on Development Director to lead the strategic direction and execution of our API and Data product sets within the Servicing segment. This high-impact role requires a unique blend of technical acumen, product strategy, domain expertise, and leadership to drive digital and AI transformation and accelerate value delivery through an API-first approach.

You will be responsible for defining and executing the roadmap for scalable, secure, and high-performing APIs and data services that power the future of mortgage servicing. This role demands a dynamic leader who can wear multiple hats—strategist, technologist, evangelist, and execution driver.

• Define and lead the API and Data strategy for IMT’s Servicing segment, aligning with business goals and industry trends.
• Drive modernization of legacy systems, enabling scalable and cloud-native solutions.
• Establish and enforce API design guidelines, domain and data modeling standards, and governance frameworks.
• Build and maintain a sustainable API framework, integrating legacy services and introducing new APIs.
• Lead and mentor cross-functional teams including architects, product managers, and agile delivery teams.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, infrastructure, and client-facing teams to deliver high-quality API and data products and solutions.
• Drive developer experience with Developer Portal.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies (e.g., Agentic AI, microservices, service mesh, cloud-native, and event-driven architectures) and translate them into actionable strategies.
• Partner with enterprise platform teams to ensure seamless integration and Dev Ops enablement.
• Influence architectural decisions and participate in enterprise-wide technical committees.
• Promote API and data productization and monetization strategies across channels.
• Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on API and data technologies.
• Travel up to 15% as needed.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in IT, with a strong background in software development and architecture.
• 3+ years in leadership roles such as Software Architect, Product Manager, or Development Manager focused on API and data platforms.
• Proven experience in Financial Services, Mortgage Servicing, or Fin Tech is highly desirable.
• Deep expertise in API Management platforms (e.g., Apigee), RESTful API design, and microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of API security standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect), asynchronous messaging, and cloud-native technologies.
• Deep experience with Java/Spring Boot, .NET, AWS services, and integration technologies.
• High level understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Large Language Models, and Agentic AI frameworks.
• Familiarity with API and data governance tools.
• Knowledge of Dev Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, and service mesh architectures.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to influence across matrixed organizations and lead cross-functional teams.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
