Senior Ab-Initio Developer

12+ month contract, likely extension. Hybrid work schedule: 3 days onsite (Tues/Thurs/Fri).

Ab Initio Developers are responsible for development, programming, and coding of IT solutions. Developers document detailed system specifications, participate in unit testing, maintain planned and unplanned internally developed applications, and evaluate and perform testing of purchased products. They ensure IT controls protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and data. Developers are assigned to moderately complex projects and are well-versed in data quality processes and data governance procedures to ensure data is fit for consumption.

• Create data profiles, write scripts, and develop workflows to support the data quality program.
• Perform data analysis to identify data quality issues for relational and non-relational data sources.
• Write code for moderately complex system designs, spanning platforms.
• Write code for enhancing existing programs or developing new programs.
• Review code developed by other IT Developers.
• Provide input to and drive programming standards.
• Provide input to development of data quality standards rules for data quality dimensions.
• Write detailed technical specifications for subsystems and identify integration points.
• Report missing elements in system and functional requirements, explaining impacts on subsystems.
• Consult with IT Developers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Project Managers, and vendors.
• Scope time, resources, etc., required to complete programming projects; seek review on estimates.
• Perform unit testing and debugging; set test conditions based upon code specifications.
• Support transition of application throughout product development life cycle; document migration.
• Research vendor products/alternatives; conduct product gap analysis/comparison.
• Accountable for including IT controls and following standard corporate practices to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the application and data.

• Direct hands‑on experience with Ab Initio, SQL, Unix scripting.
• Strong complex SQL development; stored procedures experience preferred.
• Experience collaborating effectively with IT and business partners for solution delivery.
• Experience with testing methodologies with the stated major development language(s)/technology.
• Experience with a major relational database management system required;

• Experience with Linux operating system a plus; RHEL preferred.
• Knowledge of messaging engines helpful.
• Cloud experience preferred.
• Strong relationship management and collaboration skills to facilitate effective working relationships with varied stakeholders and team members, including vendors.
• Ability to manage and/or participate in projects and ensure work is completed on time with high quality.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, with a focus on understanding overall business issues and determining innovative solutions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be self‑directed, highly organized and adaptable, with the ability to effectively multi‑task as needed.
• Familiar with current and emerging technologies and willingness to investigate and suggest new technology to meet business needs.

• 5+ years related work experience; professional experience with technical design and coding in the IT industry.
• Strong SQL and stored procedures experience required.
• Experience with Netezza or SQL Server required (at least one, both preferred).
• Strong Ab Initio developer experience required.
• Must be familiar with UNIX shell scripting (both new and existing scripts).
• Experience with very large, high‑volume data and databases.

• Related Bachelor’s degree or related work experience.
