About Urban SDK

Urban SDK is a geospatial analytics and AI platform helping cities, states, and agencies transform mobility, safety, and infrastructure operations through real‑time data. Our mission is to empower government agencies with actionable insights to improve transportation safety, reduce congestion, and enhance quality of life in their communities.

Urban SDK partners with public agencies, MPOs, DOTs, and law enforcement to deliver powerful, automated data solutions — including traffic speed and volume analytics, collision insights, roadway performance monitoring, and workflow automation — all within one integrated platform.

We are honored to be recognized as one of Jacksonville Business Journal’s Best Places to Work and a leading Gov Tech 100 company.

Position Overview

The Sales Engineer plays a critical role in Urban SDK’s growth strategy by acting as the technical and analytical bridge between Sales, Product, and Government Clients.

This position requires a deep understanding of GIS, data analysis, and transportation technology — combined with the ability to communicate complex technical solutions in simple, outcome‑driven terms to public‑sector decision makers.

You will work alongside Account Executives and the VP of Revenue to help shape proposals, present live demonstrations, and design data solutions that meet agency needs at every stage of the sales cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Account Executives to deliver compelling technical presentations and solution demonstrations tailored to government agency use cases
  • Conduct discovery sessions with agencies to understand operational challenges, data availability, and goals for transportation, safety, and planning
  • Configure and prepare datasets, dashboards, and maps in Urban SDK to showcase speed, volume, and safety analytics during pre‑sales engagements
  • Translate agency requirements into defined scopes of work, integration plans, and pricing configurations
  • Leverage GIS and analytics experience to develop proof‑of‑concept data visualizations, pilot projects, and baseline reports
  • Analyze roadway performance data, crash reports, and traffic volumes to create meaningful insights for presentations and proposals
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to communicate client needs and identify feature enhancements or integration opportunities
  • Support proposal and RFP development by contributing technical specifications, workflow diagrams, and system architecture documentation
  • Work closely with Implementation and Account Management teams to ensure a smooth customer handoff and onboarding experience
  • Provide technical guidance and training to internal sales and customer success staff on Urban SDK’s capabilities and data methodology
  • Partner with Marketing to develop case studies, demo videos, and technical collateral for public‑sector audiences
  • Build credibility as a trusted advisor to agency stakeholders — including transportation engineers, planners, police departments, and city managers
  • Present at industry conferences, webinars, and local government events to demonstrate Urban SDK’s thought leadership in smart mobility and traffic safety
Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in a Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Technical Account Management role
  • Demonstrated background in Gov Tech, transportation, or SaaS environments supporting government clients
  • Strong understanding of GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.) and data visualization tools
  • Skilled in data analysis and working with large geospatial or time‑series datasets (speed, volume, crash, or roadway performance data)
  • Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex data concepts into clear business value for government users
  • Comfortable presenting to groups of engineers, directors, and elected officials
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with government procurement, contracting, and budgeting processes
  • Experience using or integrating with Urban SDK, ESRI, INRIX, Street Light, or similar transportation data tools
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Power BI, or…
