Telecom Technician (Field Services Telecommunications – Hospital Setting)
Job Title: Telecom Technician
Role Overview: Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining telecommunications systems in a hospital environment, including Daisy chain software phone setups. The role ensures reliable communication infrastructure for clinical and administrative operations.
Key Responsibilities- Installation & Configuration
- Perform Daisy chain software phone installations for VoIP and analog systems.
- Set up and test telephony devices (emergency phones, intercoms, facsimile terminals).
- Run new wiring and replace jacks, lids, and pedestals as needed.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults in telecommunications systems.
- Troubleshoot POTS/analog lines for alarm panels and elevator systems.
- Handle move/add/change requests for phones and related equipment.
- Project Work
- Participate in large‑scale upgrades and hospital technology projects.
- Collaborate with engineers and IT teams for system integration.
- Compliance & Safety
- Maintain inventory of hardware/software and adhere to hospital safety standards.
- Ensure installations meet infection control and HIPAA compliance requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent technical training.
- 1–2 years of experience in telephony or low‑voltage cabling.
- Familiarity with:
- VoIP systems and IP networking basics.
- Digital/analog cross‑connect wiring and patch panels.
- Tools such as punch‑down kits, tone generators, and test sets.
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- BICSI, Network+, or A+ certifications.
- Experience with PBX provisioning and hospital‑grade telecom systems.
Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $22.00–$25.00 per hour.
