General Position Summary

Responsible for overall management and performance of the logistics operations including office and warehouse operations, customer relations, information technology, quality and security. The Logistics Operations Manager is accountable for achieving company objectives, productivity standards and cost‑control goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and supervising all traffic functions related to freight movement into and out of the warehouse(s), maintaining service levels while keeping costs minimal.
  • Training and supervising employees to meet departmental and company objectives, and interface with Transportation Operations to resolve scheduling and dispatching issues.
  • Maintaining and developing warehousing policies and programs that meet cost and service objectives and customer needs, and recommending improvements to the function.
  • Directing the implementation of procedures to ensure freight claims are processed and collected in a timely manner.
  • Forecasting, identifying and analyzing costs, equipment availability and service levels, making recommendations and instituting corrective action.
  • Establishing and measuring KPIs to drive performance for on‑time in‑full delivery, shipping costs, inventory management, productivity and quality, and workforce planning.
  • Investigating cause‑analysis issues for problem reconciliation and leading corrective action for complaints related to transportation, logistics handling and warehousing.
  • Maintaining fiscal budgets and ensuring effective management within budgetary guidelines; providing senior management with periodic reports.
  • Directing staff to support strategic customer‑care objectives and enhancing team skills and competencies.
  • Ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations.
Qualifications

Job Skills Required
  • Broad management skills, especially leadership, problem solving, motivation, communication, innovation and planning.
  • Independent worker comfortable with complex cross‑functional teams; strong verbal and written communication with senior executives.
  • Successful management of resources, systems and personnel to achieve organizational objectives; sourcing, negotiation and human‑relations skills.
  • Experience building, executing and managing vendor strategy and operations through KPIs, audit mechanisms and flawless execution.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, sales, operations and stakeholders; strategic thinking and thriving in ambiguous environments.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and drive action.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, advanced Excel; working knowledge of warehouse and transportation management systems.
  • Team player, owner mindset, focused on delivering results with high standards.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, transportation or a business‑related field.
  • Minimum 8 + years of direct experience in a similar industry.
  • Knowledge of regulations related to transportation and warehouse operations; experience with logistics sourcing strategies.
  • Skills in building vendor relationships, developing departmental metrics, monitoring quality, quantity, cost and efficiency.
  • Financial acumen and budgeting experience.
  • Experience in Lean, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement initiatives, including ISO applications.
  • Knowledge of industry standard applications for transportation and warehousing (WMS).
Travel
  • Minimal travel required.
