Position Objective – Accounting Supervisor:
The Accounting Supervisor supports the Director of Finance in overseeing daily operations within the Accounting Department. This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The Accounting Supervisor will lead a team responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger reconciliation. As the company evolves, so will the scope and responsibilities of this role.

Supervisory

Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises the accounting team responsible for AP/AR, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Provides guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations for accounting staff.
  • Assists in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain daily accounting operations including invoicing, cash receipts, disbursements, and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports.
  • Review account reconciliations and journal entries for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement approved changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Quick Books and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel in particular).
  • Familiarity with inventory accounting and controls preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in inventory control and multi-location operations preferred.
  • CPA or CMA designation is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional travel between locations may be required.
