Job InformationThe machinist is responsible for operating machines in support of daily valve repair operations. The machinist is expected to perform hands‑on machining operations, as well as some duties of a valve technician.
Key Responsibilities- Fabrication of various components of valves
- Daily operations of various manual machines, including lathes, vertical turret lathes, milling machines, drill press, and radial arm drills
- Disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly, and testing of valves at Flotech facilities and client locations
- Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and ASME National Board standards that apply to the job
- Thoroughly complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs
- Travel to job sites and adhere to all site safety and performance requirements
- Communicate timely updates to management, co‑workers and customers to ensure timely and successful completion of job responsibilities
- Work closely with co‑workers, management and safety coordinator to ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations
- High School Diploma or GED and at least five (5) years of machinist experience, or equivalent number of years of education and experience
- Proficient in use of multiple manual machines in an industrial setting. Extensive knowledge of machining is a must
- Prefer experience with machining specifically for valve repair
- Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel for off‑site jobs
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Frequently required to stand
- Frequently required to walk
- Continually required to sit
- Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- Occasionally balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
- Continually required to talk or hear
- Continually utilize visual acuity to read technical information and/or use a keyboard
- Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions
- Occasionally loud noise (examples: shop tool noises, electric motors, moving mechanical equipment)
