Responsibilities- Operate asphalt plant controls to weigh and deliver aggregates and asphalt cement to the dryer and mixer for heating and mixing, then dump into trucks.
- Maintain proper heat in the dryer by adjusting thermostatic controls and ensure proper material flow.
- Assist in the maintenance of plant equipment and in compiling reports regarding plant production and plant maintenance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Physical ability to perform required motions: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting (up to 50 pounds), stretching, pushing, pulling, vibration, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, reaching.
- Must be able to climb stairs/ladders to the top of the plant.
- Tools experience: sledge hammer, wrenches, screwdrivers, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench, hand shovel.
- Answer telephone/radio and take inputs/orders.
- Commercial Driver's License ( CDL) may be required in accordance with 49 CFR 383.91 (heavy straight vehicle, Group B; no endorsements necessary).
- Overtime work is required.
- May be exposed to extreme heat or cold; travel to/from plant sites.
- Education/
Experience:
High school graduate with strong math skills and mechanical aptitude; minimum 3 years of experience as Asphalt Plant Operator; experience with Astec double barrel components and Gencor controls is a plus; computer literate with Microsoft Excel.
