Summary:
The Multi-Process Operator – Cell Lead oversees daily operations across multiple aerospace work centers, coordinating operator activities and ensuring quality, safety, and production output. This role is responsible for hands-on operation of equipment, workflow coordination, and accurate MRP-driven work order management across machining, forming, heat treating, and finishing processes.
- · Coordinate daily workflow across all cell work centers:
- · Assign tasks, balance workloads, and track progress against production schedules.
- · Serve as primary technical resource for troubleshooting equipment, tooling, and process issues.
- · Maintain strong communication with supervisors, engineering, quality, and planning.
- · Set up, operate, and verify equipment in multiple work centers, including CNC machining (Haas, Komo), forming (stretch form, hydro form, hot joggle), press operations (Trumpf, Versun), heat treat/age ovens, routers, straightening, deburring, contouring, and manual machining (Bridgeport).
- · Directly responsible for production output of cell(s), ensuring schedule and tact is attained with minimum scrap or waste.
- · Manages KPIS and production metrics; monitors and provides solutions to maintain green reporting. Comfortable reporting out metrics status and recommendations to solve problems.
- · Read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings, blueprints, processes, and specs.
- · Identify opportunities to optimize setups, reduce cycle times, and increase uptime.
- · Verify part conformance using gauges, fixtures, and inspection tools.
- · Ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements.
- · Maintain proper completion of all production, shop traveler, and quality documents.
- · Support nonconformance investigations and corrective actions.
- · Coordinate with Quality on first-article inspections, process verification, and audits
- · Enforce safety standards, PPE use, and machine operation procedures.
- · Support 5S and Lean initiatives to improve flow, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- · Train and mentor operators to build multi-skilled capabilities across work centers.
- · Provide feedback on operator performance, skill development, and cross-training needs.
- · Promote a positive, solution-oriented team environment.
- · Perform other duties as assigned.
- · 3–5+ years of aerospace or precision manufacturing experience
- · Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar).
- · Hands-on experience in multiple areas such as CNC machining, press/brake operation, sheet metal forming, heat treat, routers, or finishing.
- · Ability to read blueprints, specs, and manufacturing routings.
- · Understanding of AS9100 quality systems and aerospace manufacturing requirements.
- · Demonstrated leadership ability in a production environment.
- · Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- · Must be able to use all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
- · NADCAP experience (heat treat, forming, or machining). Preferred
- · Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma. Preferred
