Position Summary

University Engagement & Events Coordinator (Member Recruitment Coordinator – MRC) is a public‑facing member of NMDP. The role educates, engages, and inspires the public to support and participate in the mission through presentations, awareness events, celebrations, and registry recruitment event execution. Based in Jacksonville, FL, the position travels regularly throughout the entire state of Florida.

  • Builds and sustains relationships and drives committed individuals to join the NMDP registry.
  • Targets key audiences: colleges, universities, technical or vocational schools; community‑based organizations and coalitions; corporations; service sectors (police & fire academies, units).
  • Focuses on increasing the diversity of the national registry by engaging and educating ethnically diverse communities.
  • Delivers excellent customer service through planning and coordination of registry awareness, education, and commitment activities to align with sponsor vision and meet organizational goals.
  • Works collaboratively with a regional team to accomplish monthly, quarterly, and annual registry enrollment goals.
Accountabilities Community & Activity Leadership
  • Establishes and maintains relationships within diverse communities, including leaders, organizations, media, businesses, and local contacts to plan and coordinate engagement and recruitment efforts.
  • Acts as liaison between NMDP and the community; responds to leads and referrals promptly.
  • Communicates through public speaking and written communication to expand the NMDP mission and increase participation of new, diverse registry members, volunteerism, and philanthropic giving.
  • Identifies and recommends innovative engagement and recruitment practices; provides timely feedback to account managers and marketing leaders.
  • Collaborates with account managers and marketing to create an engagement and recruitment strategy plan for each fiscal year, ensuring achievement of diverse goals and targets.
  • Plans, organizes, and delivers mission‑focused events (live and digital) that provide an excellent registry member experience and exceptional customer service to community partners and sponsors.
  • Educates prospective volunteer donors about the NMDP mission, donation process, and registry expectations; answers questions and implements training procedures for community engagement.
  • Creates an annual activity plan with specific rotations at each target college campus; reports progress to leadership.
Internal and External Partnership Leadership
  • Collaborates with account managers and network community engagement partners to achieve strategic goals and initiatives of NMDP.
  • Partners with network transplant centers to identify patients and families interested in supporting NMDP through community awareness efforts.
  • Provides support to patient families to evaluate needs and refer to appropriate NMDP support services; collaborates with internal partnership team to support leads.
  • Shares impactful patient, donor, and related stories with marketing; pitches stories to media.
  • Participates in media events and represents NMDP in media interviews; communicates media opportunities to marketing liaisons.
  • Engages in team building and collaborates with other functions to support donor recruitment, availability, and experience objectives and programs.
  • Promotes and encourages financial support of the NMDP Foundation.
Volunteer Management Support
  • Speaks to community groups to inform audiences of NMDP activities and recruit potential volunteers.
  • Recruits and retains volunteers, including episodic and long‑term volunteers; interviews, screens, trains, and recommends volunteer placement; ensures proper training.
  • Supervises volunteers throughout the engagement process.
  • Tracks volunteer data and hours as required.
  • Supports and participates in volunteer recognition and appreciation activities.
