The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability and responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities or tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters.

Assignments are performed appropriately to the age and developmental level of patients being served.

• Required education:
  Associate’s Degree in Nursing with BSN required within three (3) years of hire or transfer.
• Preferred education:
  
  BSN.
• Required skills:
  
  Teamwork and communication with the healthcare team; ability to learn and apply computer technologies relevant to patient care delivery.
• Licensure/
  
  Certifications:
  
  Licensed to practice nursing in Florida or confirmation letter;
  Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross on the first day of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) requirements vary by department as specified.
• Preferred certifications:
  Professional certification preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Less than one year of related experience required; one year of clinical experience preferred.
