Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters.
Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. All team members will be expected to work all areas of their unit. 3N RNs will be required to work MB, NBN, and attend deliveries. The LD RN will be required to work LD, WAC, LD PACU, and the LD OR. NICU/NICU SD will be required to work both areas.
All Women Service team members will be required to float between units as needed to work within their scope of practice.
- Associate’s Degree
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- BSN Requirement: New hires effective June 14, 2017
, must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. - Employees hired or transferred between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must follow the requirements outlined in their offer letter and the job description signed at the time of hire or transfer.
- Employees hired or transferred into the position before August 1, 2013 are grandfathered under the applicable requirements.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
The successful candidate must:
- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Florida is required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification is required for all areas.
- Effective November 20, 2025

- AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced certification is required.
- Effective July 1, 2018

. - New hires and transfers must obtain AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced certification within one (1) year of hire or transfer if they have no previous training.
- Effective March 1, 2021
, employees must recertify fetal monitoring every two (2) years
