Job Overview

FAR Inspections, based in Reno, NV, is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.

Independent contractors can earn predictable full-time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines is crucial.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Spend extended periods driving within the assigned territory.
• Most inspections should take 5-6 minutes.

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, varying by county and volume. You will earn the equivalent of $30-$40 per hour.

Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20-500 inspections per month, working 2-30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month.

Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
