DescriptionThe Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is seeking a 12‑month, non‑tenure earning Postdoctoral Associate of any area of science, with data science experience. This position will report to Dr. Stuart Chalk, Professor of Chemistry. Position responsibilities include:
- lead developer of the core Python application
- major contributor to the project ecosystem design and implementation
- coordinator of working groups
- major contributor to project presentations and publications
The successful postdoc will be involved at the ground level development of the Know Ledger Project (), by developing a suite of components needed for an open digital research data management system that will nominally serve all research communities, putting the control of the development in the hands of the research community (as far as possible), promoting data science/informatics as an important part of all research activities, and encouraging research data sharing and reuse.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in the hiring department’s discipline or closely related field, plus data science experience.
Preferred Qualifications /
Skills:
- Expertise in Python programming, Git Hub repository management and Docker containerization – essential.
- Research data management experience – preferred.
- Organizational and time management skills – preferred.
