Retail Shortage Control - Part Time – Burlington Stores, Inc.
Shortage Control Associate role to safeguard store security while delivering exceptional customer service. This role will monitor entrances/exits and high‑risk areas, engage with customers, and support theft prevention initiatives.
Responsibilities- Maintain command presence – professional appearance, wear designated dress standards, radio, and earpiece.
- Position at front of the store; remain vigilant and aware of surroundings.
- Greet every customer with a warm smile and friendly greeting.
- Create a secure environment that reduces opportunities for theft.
- Monitor the entrance throughout the shift, reducing theft, shoplifting, and other dishonest activities.
- Communicate theft prevention information during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty.
- Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates to ensure adherence to safety and security standards.
- Report theft incidents and suspicious activity to the Manager on Duty promptly.
- Support training of associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
- Serve as a role model for safety; address unsafe practices promptly.
- 1+ year experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while visually monitoring the store environment.
- Strong confidentiality and discretion.
- Capability to review, analyze, and comprehend business trends.
- Positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision making.
- Excellent communication with customers and co‑workers.
- Leadership skills that foster productive business relationships.
- Competitive hourly wage of $14.00 per hour.
