Job DescriptionAECOM is hiring an Entry‑Level Biologist in our Florida office locations (Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Tallahassee). The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment that supports career growth within AECOM’s Environmental Planning & Permitting (EPP) Southeast Team. This position involves both in‑person and virtual work, performing environmental impact assessments, marine and terrestrial wetland delineations, protected species surveys, stormwater inspections, permitting, and technical report writing.
Responsibilities- Assist the lead Biologist/Scientist in performing wetland, plant, wildlife, protected upland, intertidal and nearshore marine surveys.
- Process field data and develop ecological assessment reports using tablets, GPS units, and other equipment.
- Coordinate with governmental agencies regarding survey protocols, reporting standards, endangered species and NEPA compliance.
- Identify potential environmental impacts through plan reviews, aerial observations, field data, desktop research, and GIS databases.
- Conduct visual inspections of drainage facilities.
- Familiarize with field survey equipment, data forms, and reporting tools.
- Assist in preparing permit applications, NEPA documents, and other technical information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biology or a related field.
- Fieldwork experience with reliable transportation and willingness to travel overtime and work long outdoor days in various habitats.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License; must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience with field data collection, research, and preparation of technical reports.
- Knowledge of federal and state environmental laws (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, NEPA, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience with iPads, Android tablets, Trimble GPS units, and related survey equipment.
- GIS skills using ESRI ArcGIS (Arc Map/Arc Pro) and ability to create maps or perform spatial analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication, including technical writing.
- Safety or Health & Safety training (e.g., CPR, OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hrs).
- Team‑oriented, professional, and accountable with high self‑motivation.
- College transcripts with GPA and writing samples.
- Relocation assistance not available.
- Employer sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization not available now or in the future.
- Hybrid work schedule requiring in‑office attendance at least three days per week.
- Salary Range: $46,000 – $65,000 (based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location).
